The 2008 National Championships are drawing near, and is shaping up to be an excellent event. The information posted below is based on frequently asked questions from NSW members.

NSW Closing date for Nationals Applications
The Application closing date for Taekwondo NSW is August 11th, one day after the selection event.
Get your national entry form submitted to NSW team manager Bilal Elmowy BEFORE the selection event. It is anticipated that most NSW entrants will qualify, and only a handful will miss out. Naturally, those that miss out will be refunded.
NSW Qualification Criteria - How do I qualify for the Nationals?
In sparring competition, you must come 1st, 2nd or 3rd (there are two 3rd place getters) at the Taekwondo NSW Selection event to be held on August 10.
For technical competitors, you qualify by competing at the NSW selection event.
Please note that
1) The 4 sparring qualification spots are reserved for NSW players in each division. We have interstate and international guests at our comp. If you come 5th, but an international player came 1st, you still qualify.
2) If someone above you does not want to (or cannot) compete at the nationals, their spot opens up for the next ranked competitor.
3) If your division is a merged division (because of a lack of players in your division), you qualify.
4) If there is any confusion as to whether you qualify or not, The NSW Team Manager Bilal Elmowy can advise you.
Age Categories at the National Level
The age categories do not line up exactly with the NSW categories - is this correct?
Yes. At the national level, there is no 6-7 year category and the 14-17 years category is combined. All categories offered in the nationals pack are correct and final.
Patches on Uniforms
The nationals package is quite strict on patches. The intent behind this rule is to prevent players displaying advertising/marketing information on their uniforms.
